Hi I'[m Jim Moore. I'm retired, and live in Belmont California. I have
a couple of questions maybe you could help me with. Last month we were
in Washington State. We had dug clams, and bought some crabs. My son
wanted to bring some home with him. He was told to get some shaved
ice. I guess it's what all the fishermen use on their boats. It's
supposed to be colder and last longer than cubed or block ice. He was
having a little trouble finding shaved ice and I made the big mistake
of saying, your only going to drive overnight, use ice cubes. I
almost started W.W.3 He finally found shaved ice and it was almost
all melted before he got home 12 hrs later. I have left the bay area
on my way to Laughton Nev. We had taken plastic bottles of water and
froze them, for trip across the desert. We took two days to get to
Laughton, one night there. We left and went to Vegas, another two
days, and then wome for a total of 6 days . All we had was a little
igloo ice chest. We still had ice when we got home. I guess my main
question would be, wouldn't the main concern be, how well the
compartment was insulated? And how much difference between block,
cubed or shaved ice there is. If its made with salt wouldn't it affect
the fish? I would be curious to put an ounce of shaved ice in a glass,
and a ounce of cube, and pour two ounces of Jack Daniels over both and
see what one melts first . Hoping to here from you
Jim
