Subject: Monoatomic Carbon Stability

It is possible to generate monoatomic hydrogen with some degree of 
stability as near absolute zero temperatures.  Realizing that carbon 
in the vapor phase is diatomic is there a realistic expectation of 
producing monoatomic carbon in the same manner as hydrogen?
