I thought about this a while and asked some colleagues.  We all agreed
that the true upper limit would be the size of the universe, but doing
experiments with anything larger than say, a parsec would be darn near
impossible.  I haven't been able to find anything about reserach being
done in wavelengths of that size.  Here's your chance to do some original
work!  Get a really big meter stick and a lot of string together. . .
