Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done.  It is not possible to 
add material of exactly the same composition, because the whole ring would 
melt.  The best that a jeweler can do is use a lower melting alloy to fill 
the gap he cut to enlarge the ring.  Your friend's fiance should have gone 
back to the jeweler where he got the ring and had the stone set in a ring 
the right size.
