I would do a bit more web research into Goretex (Gor-tex?) and Tyvek. These are brand names for materials with pore sizes large enough to admit air but not the larger water molecules. There may be some in your athletic shoes. The control is something which remains the same or consistant between all the eggs, such as all the eggs coming from one package; and the variable can be ANY of the other things you change between eggs (time, temp, etc.) to see if it makes a difference in bubbles. My opinion is that visible air moving out might not be the best indicator or what you wish to test/prove. Have you ever dyed eggs and had some of the color move into the white? Good luck!
