If one precisely ploted the orbit of the earth in a given year, could one tell
by looking at the plot, when the earth came it's closest to Jupiter? It's my
understanding a planet, especially Jupiter with it's great mass, will slightly
peturb another planet most noticably at their closest approach. If so, how far
in meters does Jupiter pull the earth temporarily out of it's normal orbit?
