Dear Irma, An elephant does have a navel. It doesn’t look like ours but it is there. In fact, all mammals that develop in a uterus have a navel. The navel is the spot on the wall of the abdomen that reminds us of where the umbilical cord was attached during development. The reason I said all mammals that develop in a uterus is because there are mammals called monotremes that develop in eggs. There are two of these, the duckbill platypus and the spiny anteater. I don’t think these have a navel, but I am not sure.
