What I mean is, it just seems so simple. It seems that all you need to do is to get an avarage space shuttle, store about 15-17 months worth of food for three people, launch the craft, and let it coast to Mars. It seems simple, so why hasn't it been done yet?

Re: Why haven't there been any manned missions to Mars yet? Hi chris - Your question can be answered by searching one of the free search engines on the WWW. We recommend the following sites: Google: http://www.google.com/ Yahooligans (Webguide for Kids): http://www.yahooligans.com/ Wikipedia (Free encyclopedia): http://en.wikipedia.org/ The short answer is that it's really not so simple. It would be the furthest any person has traveled from the earth, and also the longest anyone has spent in space! You can find more information at NASA about planned missions, and the work being done to prepare for them. Try the following search on Google: manned missions Mars site:nasa.gov Sincerely, Lynn Bry, Moderator MadSci Network _______________________________________________________________ What I mean is, it just seems so simple.
