Subject: when a plane flies, does it continue to rotate with the earth?

My science teacher says that the earth spins alone without the flying 
airplane.  She says that flight paths must account for the fact that the earth 
spins independently.  This does not make sense, based on my calculations of how 
far the earth would spin under a jumper's feet at the equator. Thanks for your
