It has been suggested to me that: a cats terminal velocity is 60 mph, reached
after 5 storeys. This velocity is insufficient to cause death in more than 10%
of cases, and a study quoted is (Mehlhaff, Cheryl and Wayne Whitney. "High-rise
syndrome in cats," J. Amer. Vet. Med. Assoc. 191,) .... I disputed
this 'hearsay' argument on the basis that the deceleration required as the cat
hit the ground and bent its legs would be so huge... Any further insight would
be fantastic! Thank you
