Subject: What happens to the rock of the oceanic plate that is not subducted?

In a collision of 2 oceanic plates one is subducted. What happens to the
leading edge of the one that overrides especially if it is being pushed
from a midocean ridge? Does it just grow? Is the old rock of the leading
edge destroyed at all?
