Sorry it took so long for me to reply, I really tried to find the exact answer you were looking for.

I looked in a medical book on reptiles and amphibians which has a lot of good information, but it had no specific information on the sleep patterns of alligators. Only that they sleep during the cooler hours of the day and night and that they feed at night. They may go for long periods of time without eating and appear to be hibernating, but they will come out of their long sleep periods for basking in the sun when available. They have also been found sleeping, for long periods of time, in the water with only their nostrils sticking up out of the water so they can breath. Sometimes ice will form around their nostrils when the top layer of water freezes. I also found a book in a pet shop in Chelsea, Michigan that had a lot of good information on alligators, but nothing on sleep patterns, other than what I've already told you.

My favorite web site was www.fpl.com/html/kid_gator.html

Scorpions are desert animals and sleep during the hot hours of the day and are active in the cool hours of the evening (they are nocturnal). For scorpions, my favorite web site was www.desertuse.com/index.html Click on Animals and Wildlife then Insects and spiders and you will find information on scorpions.

Good luck.
Sorry I couldn't be more specific.
