Dear sir,

In answer to your question for the self-inflaming temperature of isopropanol
(or isopropyl alcohol). According to the safety handbooks it is at 425 deg
centigrade.
The flash point is at 12 deg centigrade.
To convert from liquid volume to gaseous state the following is relevant. I
don't know the density of liquid nitrogen by heart, but let's assume it's 1
kg per liter, just like water is.
The molar mass of nitrogen is 28 g/mol, so in 1 kg there are 35.7 moles of
nitrogen. When this is brought into the gaseous phase the molar volume comes
into play, which in an approximation for an ideal gas is 22.4 liters/mol. If
we multiply this by the number of moles of nitrogen we had this results in
an increase to 800 liters of gas.
Since this is applied only for an idealized situation, your figure of 729
might be the experimental figure. The idealization will exclude interaction
between molecules, which will reduce the molar volume to a certain amount,
which might cause the 71 liter difference. Also the density of liquid
nitrogen can differ from that of water, causing the difference between your
and my value.
Hopefully this answers your question.
Yours sincerely
J. van der Rijt, MSc
