There is a great contrast in tides between here and,say, Broome further 
north, which experiences some of the largest tidal variations in the 
world. Our tidal variation is only about a metre. Nobody I have asked in 
this "neck of the woods" has been able to give me a meaningful 
explanation.Perhaps you are the guys (and gals) that can. An interesting
