I have heard that most people bitten by a poisonous animal (say a rattle
snake) die because of the shock and not because of the poison.

So if one gets bitten by a rattle snake and he/she remains calm (by
remembering this question/answer from MadSci!)is it true that he/she will
not die ?

And (if you don't mind):
What animals / plants produce a poison strong enough to kill somebody even
if he/she doesn't get a shock ?

Thanks for the answer,
Manfred
