Subject: I need an explanation for an experiment I saw invol balance and gravity.

the experiment was using a metalspoon and fork linked together at the 
tongs, and a wooden toothpick slipped in at the centre of the linked 
utensils.  The utensils were balanced on the toothpick.  The the toothpick 
was then balanced on the edge of a glass, approx 1" of the toothpick was 
laying over the inside of the glass.  The toothpick was lit on fire, the 
fire then extinguished at the edge of the glass and the utensils remained 
balanced on a very small piece of toothpick as if glued there.  I thought 
this was pretty cool but need to explain it for my science experiment 
comming up soon.  Thanks
