Subject: Decomposition of an apple peel in different climate.

I put apple peels in glass jars with some dirt.  I put them 3 different areas 
of my home.  Sunny window, dark closet and the freezer.  I have visually seen 
what the differences are but am having a hard time explaining what Im seeing 
scientifically.  Are there any sources on the internet to help me explain the 
difference?  Does this project have similarities to composting? If you could 
refer me to some sites that would be helpful I would appreciate it.  Also maybe 
some books I could look at the library. Thank-you Bobby Thoner
