Alcohol is a highly active agent, that it frees up chemicals and gases in the fibred of durian flesh. Just as many people's digestive systems are allergic or over-react to lactose in milk, the digestive system often reacts to chemicals or gases it is not familiar with. Over-reaction in the digestive system, just as muscular reaction of asthma has the capacity to kill or at least cause extreme discomfort.
