I would say it is unlikely that the plasmid alone could affect the cells 
in the way you described, but without doing the control transformation 
(with the pRS313 plasmid alone) it is impossible to conclude anything. Are 
you sure that the cells you used were FPR3 deleted? The only option you 
have is to repeat the experiment again with the correct controls and see 
what happens. If the same result occurs then you can look into it in more 
detail. Good luck!
