Hi, I am having problems with some homework exercisesin which I have to
calculate the iodine numbers of some fats. The equation I have been
given has
totally confused me and I can't find a good explanation anywhere. All I
really
need is a worked example of one question so that I can do the rest
myself.
I.e. My blank has 0grams of fat, required 55.5ml of 0.1M thiosulphate
and had a
blank-fat source titration of 0ml.
So if one of my samples weighed 0.16grams, required 44.4ml f 0.1M
thiosulphate
and a blank-fat source titration value 11.1ml how would I calculate the
iodin
number? Both samples contain 15ml of chloroform and 30ml of hanus iodine.
The equation my lecturer has given me is: 12.7/1000 x X
I think X is meant to be the blank-fat source titration value.
