I have noticed that the relationship between mass and diameter in spiral galaxies seems to follow a power law that better fits the SQUARE of the radius, rather than the CUBE of the radius that one would expect for a volumetric relationship. The only way I can explain this is if disk thickness does not vary in a one to one linear fashion as diameter changes. I want to know what the true mathematical relationship is, if indeed it is known.
