hi there this really isn't my area at all. However, I know that lobsters form a dark coloured pigment during the process of "inflammation", so I suspect the dark-coloured meat was the lobster equivalent of an immune response. The red blob could be anything, ranging from a bacterial infection, through fungal to animal (e.g. a worm). It could have successfully resolved, since the "cranberry" was fully surrounded, or the process of infection could have only just started. But bear in mind that what I say is pure speculation, as I didn't see the animal/ lesion, and I know next to nothing about lobsters anyway ! cheers david
