Iodine is use to enhance contrast in low-magnification microscopy. Usually,
concentrations of potassium iodide ranging from 1% to 2% are used. Dilute
your stock solution accordingly, preferably in sterile water.
Onion cells are nice also for a first insight into the cellular universe...
