Chickens often have deformed or what appear to be shell-less eggs when they first begin to lay. It sometimes appears as a thick outer skin with no shell. You might want to add a calcium suppliment to their diet if this continues. Oyster shells which can be purchased at any feed store work wonders. You can also use ground up egg shells, crushed and dried as it will return the calcium lost due to egg production. Double and triple eggs are normal although not the norm. You will also need to provide grit and oyster in the winter if you live in an area that has snow.
