I have a handmade aluminum tray from 1937 that is quite rare. At somepoint
The previous owners had the piece given a gold colored anodized finish. I
can remove the coloring with oven cleaner and a brush. However, the
aluminum oxide built up via the process is very hard and resists polishing.
I would like to remove the anodized layer to restore the original polished
surface and bring out the decorative design. Can this be done at home, or
at all ?

Sincerely...Matt
