The precise number of G's that the human body can sustain depends on a number of things, including how long the force lasts and whether an anti-G suit is being worn. Positive G-forces push blood down into the lower body. This reduces the amount of blood reaching the brain, which can lead to loss of conciousness. An anti-G suit protects against positive G-forces by applying pressure to the lower body. Negative G-forces push blood into the head. This can cause blood vessels inside the skull to rupture, which is extremely dangerous!
