Hi. I teach K-5 science in a public elementary school. This question came from Isabel's kindergarten class. One of the students brought in a potted lily plant (I don't know what kind of lily - it's white with rose-colored markings) and interested students were observing it. They noticed that there were spikes on the insides of the petals, near the base of the flower. They looked sharp, like they would prickle, but they didn't.
Re: What are the spikes at the inside base of the petals of a lily flower?
