I'm troubled by the new IR finding in the center of the Milky Way from HST. The brightest star ever found, in an area very near (in macroscopic terms) to what is supposed to be a Super Massive BlackHole. The recent finding reported in the NY TImes, states that this new star; The Pistol Star, lies in the direction of the constellation Sagittarius. Dr. Mark Morris from UCLA goes on to state "Evidence leads us to believe that the star formation process near the center of the galaxy may favor Massive Stars". My question is: Is Dr. Morris, not aware of Sgr.A and other objects documented in Sagittarius? Could he be confused, seening stellar annahillation, not formation? It is also my understanding that stellar formation takes place in the spiral arms of galaxies, as noted by HST? Please help, confused.
