Greetings Nick,

Here is your answer, hope it helps.

Razor bumps, also known as pseudofolliculitis barbae, is a disease caused by shaving. The bumps are created when the hairs exit the skin, curl over and burrow into the adjacent skin. This creates a foreign body reaction resulting in a bump.

According to hearsay, using a natural sponge on your face as the stubble grows in helps to stop any infectded or ingrown hairs from developing. However, I can't vouche for this since I have not seen any data supporting it, and since I do not shave (thank goodnes).. I am not able to draw from experience. Believe it or not, there is actually a support group for sufferers of PFB (pseudofolliculitits barbae) at the MEDWEB Site.

The best cure for getting rid of those unsightly bumps is to grow facial hair and just stop shaving.
