Subject: I am doing an experiment with seed germination and ethylene gas. I am

 trying to see if the ethylene gas given off from apples speeds up 
seed germination.  I have planted my seed twice and the flat with the 
apples have sprouted first.  The problem is only 1/3 of the seeds 
sprouted.  In the flat withpot the apples only 4 seeds sproutrd.  I 
am wondering if I shouldn't cut the apples into slices since they 
seem to grow a fungus.  I am also wondering if another type of seed 
would be better.    Thank You.
