Quite often I visit a web site that has Hubble Space Telescope images , while looking at one of the images ( Hubble 11-5-98 STScL-38), I was awed by the beautiful color in the image. I read in a magazine column in answer to someone elses question, that the color rendition in photographs of the cosmos are results of a commination of what the film see and reciprocity failure , that no one could be sure of the true color of the light source , I dont know if this statement is or was true , or even that I remember it correctly , however my question is , with the electronic images taken to day , are the colors balanced to match standard astrophotography or are they more accurate then a film version , or of course , do we still not know ? Thank You Gerald Steede
