A distichous leaf arrangement is when the leaves along a stem are in two
rows. Distichous is Greek for "two ranked". This is a common leaf
arrangement in grasses or orchids. A good way to tell if a plant has a
distichous leaf arrangement is to break off a section of the stem and lay
it on the ground. If all the leaves are touching the ground it is probably
disticous.
