From the dictionary - science is the study and theoretical explanation of natural phenomena. Basically, then, science is the study of everything - even the paranormal and psuedo-science claims are often studied by scientists interested in exploring the limits of the definition of 'everything'. That said, science is important for daily life because the study of science contributes to better understanding of life and offers opportunities for the enhancement of life. The study of science also enables one to appreciate the limitations of science as well as enabling you to better participate in discussions of science policy, where the relative merits of different science applications are weighed and consensus established as to which scientific endeavors are to be emphasized and why. On to matters of more pressing concern. A good science awareness can help you better understand why your lawn turns yellow and how the lawn doctor corrects the problem, why your skateboard always gets away from you on a particularly difficult maneuver you are working on, why salt helps melt ice on the sidewalk, why your stomach aches after eating half of a very tasty cake, and a whole host of other issues that arise in your life from day to day. Believe it or not, your school science textbook is a good place to start. From there, you might want to explore particular topics on the web. For instance, on the physics of skateboards you might want to try the search terms +physics +skateboard Good luck in your quest for knowledge. sid
