This could make a decent science project if you have a way to measure soil pH, either a glass electrode pH meter or pH paper. Don't try to use a pH meter with a metal probe(s) because such meters are worthless to measure pH. If you start with sphagnum peat moss from a garden center, you could add various amounts of powdered anatacid to the peat moss and measure pH changes. Sphagnum peat moss has a pH of about 4. You could then grow plants in plain sphagnum peat moss and in peat moss plus antacid with a pH of 6 to 7. You could have more than two pH levels if you wanted. Have three or more plants per pH treatment to provide replication. You might also compare different types of anatacids. Some contain sodium and some calcium. Sodium can be toxic to plants.
