How do bearings figure in to this?

A student asked me for a book or article that would describe how to make
a skateboard go faster. He was interested in bearings and seemed to
think it was the make-up of the wheels that makes the biggest
difference. I do not have such a book (I am a media specialist in a
middle school) but wanted him to have an answer. Your response is
appreciated.

Greetings - Your question was not submitted to the
MAD Scientist Network for the following reason:

Please provide further specifics. As it stands it would be
difficult for us to find an answer to your question. Questions may
be resubmitted via http://www.madsci.org/submit.html

Specifically, do you want to know what major effects
limit the linear speed of a skateboard?
