Placing a candle in front of a mirror and looking at the reflection, it appears that the image's light is almost as intense as the actual candle. Since this reflected light is shining into the room in addition to the light directly from the candle , isn't the total amount of lightin the room increased? I suspect it's not but I'm not sure why, except it violates the law of conservation of energy, n'est ce pas?
