People who think about these things would say that the fishing pole itself is a lever, but if the pole has a mechanical reel on it then the reel would be a combination of a lever and a pulley. A fishing pole without a reel on it is simply a lever, though.

There is a good bit of information in our archives which you can find using our search engine. Try searching simply on "lever", although you will get a lot of hits that way. Refining the search can help.
