I have a science fair project due on Jan.8, and I am in desperate need of
information. My project involes light and bugs.I have 5 different colored
lights set up in boxes outside my house. The light colors are
red, green, blue, yellow, and white. In most books I've read people state that most
bugs are colorblind but I have done this expierement before and that was not
the case.I was wondering if heat actually played a role in the light bugs go
to and if there was some sort of UV ray sent out that they picked up with
their Anntenie. All of my bulbs are of the same wattage.I wanted to have a
professional idea and/or opinion of if my expierement is compleatly pointless
or if there is possibly a good cause to my expierement.I have looked at bug
lights while traveling and noticed that they are all yellow, but when
cunducting this same expierement this year, I noticed that in fact, that the
yellow light attracted the second most and that in fact the blue light
attracted the least. The red light attracted the most in this expierement. It
is fairly cool at night where I live and I was also wondering if tempature
could be a problem. Thank U for your time.
Sincerely, a young scientist
