I am interested in how benzoyl peroxide (BP) works in acne treatment. As I
understand it, BP is oxidised to benzoic acid to produce oxygen, which kills
the normally anaerobic P. acnes. Is this correct? What oxidises the BP? What
is the equation for this reaction? Thank you for your time.
