I work in the feild of timber preservation and am looking at why solvent based
preservatives penetrate timber better than water based. One of the differences
is that the surface tension of the solvent we use is significantly lower than
water. I can find any number of references to the fact that surface tension
varies with ambient temeperature but none on a relationship with pressure.
