Edward Beard Budding (1795 - 1846) patented the first mechanical lawn mower in
1830 in England. It was a reel type mower and was soon put into commercial
production.

In the USA, the first reel lawn mower was patented in 1868 by Amariah M. Hills
of Connecticut.
