A bunch of wannabe science geeks were chatting during mid-week happy hour and
got on the subject of gravity affecting objects of different dimensions. It
seems gravity should equally affect all things 3D but what about 1D or 2D objects?

the only true 2D "object" I could think of was a shadow. if you had an object
that cast a shadow and the shadow were exposed to different gravitational
fields, assuming the 3D object casting or receiving the shadow remained
unaffected, what might happen to the shadow?

is there any other way to determine how gravity would affect 1D or 2D objects in
real life?

thanks.
