This has to do with the way weight is distributed in male and female 
bodies. Boys, since they have more weight in their upper body, are 
overbalanced by the chair and can't stand up. Girls, on the other hand, 
have more weight in their lower bodies, and so can lean back and get the 
leverage to stand up. Since body types and strength differs, this isn't a 
100% thing, as you've noticed. You might do a test and see if there is a 
variation in the percentage of boys and girls who can lift the chair 
depending on age.
