Based on Einstein's theory of Relativity if two space ships are flying towards
each other (slightly offset so the don’t collide) at close to the speed of
light and each fire a ball so that the balls collide and return to the moving
spaceship that fired it to the observer it appears as if the balls were fired
simultaneously. To each of the spaceships it appears as if the other spaceship
fired first. My question is if each spaceship waited till the other spaceship
fired would they ever fire? Would one ships have to fire based on a timer? What
if one ship fire late? Would the other ship see they fired late and compensate
and therefore is it impossible to fire late since the other person would then
fire late as well? Thanks.
