Subject: Do deciduous trees annually lose their leaves regardless of climate?

A friend had just seen a movie in which none of the trees had their leaves 
but it the characters outside were in summer clothes.  Living in an area 
where there are 4 seasons, I began to wonder whether deciduous trees 
annually lose their leaves even though the weather outside doesn't 
necessarily change.
