Hi

Well, if the gun is fired perfectly horizontally AND there is no air resistance
AND the earth is not curved, you're correct. They take the same time to
reach the ground. In reality, as you say, other factors matter more; for 
instance the shape of the bullet may cause lift or downforce, when it pushes
through the air. And a tiny tilt up or down will make a lot of difference.
All bodies fall at the same rate due to gravity (remember Galileo!)
