What I am asking is this: The term "soil" usually applies to any common dirt that is under our feet. The term "sediment" usually applies to the material that is found in creek beds and lake bottoms. What I want to know is if there is a quantitative measurement to determine whether a specific material is a "sediment" or not. If there is I would be interested in knowing about it. For example could the percent saturation of the material be a measure?
