No. I do not know where the idea that spinach makes you strong came from. 
My guess is that it came from the cartoon character Popeye. 
In order to be strong you must eat a good diet and do strength training 
exercises.

Admin note:
Early in this century, an american nutritionist accidently published the
iron content of spinach as 34 mg / 100 g instead of 3.4 mg / 100 g, due to
a typo.  This result was published by several newspapers and magazines and
resulted in a "spinach craze" that cuminated with the creation of "Popeye
the Sailor", who became stronger by eating a can of spinach.  Even after
the actual iron content of spinach was known, it continued to be pushed
by parents and nutritionists (and the Spinach Growers' Association) as a
muscle-building food.
