This is an ongoing argument at work. I said that as long as air friction was the same, as in an aluminum ball and a lead ball, they would hit at the same time. My coworkers disagree. Unfortunately, when we tested, we used styrofoam vs steel. The steel hit first. I told them this was due to bouyancy. They disagree. Could we get this settled in very simple physics terms. Please note that everyone has an associates or higher technical degree and we have argued this for weeks. They keep trying to use terminal velocity and saying that the heavier object has more force to overcome air friction. Someone does not understand basic physics. Can you tell us who?
