 Yes. Glucose and fructose are both efficiently transported across
our intestinal barrier into the portal blood. However, fructose is absorbed
a bit more slowly than glucose. Once absorbed, both glucose and fructose
can be metabolized in a similar way including interconversions from one to
another. These interconversions during metabolism are somewhat complex. If
more information is needed, any biochemistry textbook can be searched for
the details of glucose and fructose metabolism within specific organisms
including humans. Some chemistry knowledge would be required for
understanding these reactions.
